President's Message

t seems we are just recuperating from one show and the next one is upon us. EIPC in Weisbaden, Germany was a success. This was Europe's answer to the IPC show (which replaced Nepcon, for most of us). Having a show, which concentrates, on our industry has some definite advantages for the exhibitors and hopefully for the attendees. Unlike the old Nepcon show or even Productronica, the IPC and now the EIPC shows concentrate on the printed circuit board industry only. This allows everyone more time to actually discuss new technology or review in detail new equipment or ideas.

The EIPC show next year will be combined with Productronica which everyone hopes will be the best of both worlds. Separate facilities will be provided to house the EIPC but it will be on the same grounds and at the same time as the Productmica show. This will give the attendees the opportunity to look around at what the rest of the electronics industry is up to but still concentrate on what is of interest to them in one area.

We are very excited over the introduction of yet another new machine in our product line, the XRT-1000 X-ray tooling and inspection unit. The XRT-1000 is a manually loaded machine, which is aimed at lower volume customers. Although the machine is as accurate as the standard Optiline PL x-ray machine is considerably less expensive.

1998 has been a great year for us at Multiline Technology. Our sales increased by over 25%, thanks to the strong interest in our automated Post Etch Punches the ATP-1000, 3000 and 5000, and the acceptance by so many customers of our X-ray tooling machines as the last line of defense in achieving near perfect registration. We introduced three new products which include the Stacker Interleaver, which we like to call the slip sheet stacker, the Multiframe glass tooling for registering the artwork to the panel for exposure, and the previously mentioned XRT-1000 x-ray drill.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers and wish everyone a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year.

Sincerely,

Michael Angelo
President
