President's Message

lthough there is definite evidence of the reported slow down in the PCB industry Multiline customers seem to have just as great a need for registration equipment as they did six months ago. The demands of our customers and our increasing backlog have resulted in some major moves for our production department. As most of you who have visited Multiline already know, unlike most equipment manufacturers in our industry Multiline manufactures almost every major component for the machines in house. This affords us tremendous control over quality and delivery, but also puts a great deal of pressure on production when things get really busy.

As a result, we have moved part of production into an additional facility just down the block, which allows us to set up two additional lines for manufacturing Optiline PE-ATP's (automatic post etch punches). We also made some exciting equipment purchases which will once again set us apart from most equipment builders. The first is a new wire EDM machine which uses .006" brass wire to electrically discharge or cut steel without ever touching the work piece directly. This unit cuts at speeds of up to 3 inches per minute or nearly twice as fast as our current machine. This technology can be used for simple bushing manufacturing or for complicated shapes in steel that would previously have taken many hours of difficult precision grinding.

The most impressive purchase we made is a huge vertical machining center which we just installed with a working machining area of 50 inches by 80 inches and an accuracy over the entire machining area of 0.0002 inches. Although we already have seven machining centers in place the addition of such a large machine increases our machining capacity and capability.

The increased popularity of our automatic Post Etch Punch (OPE-ATP), and the addition of new product lines such as the thin material Stacker/Interleaver and our Glass exposure frames has also been motivating factors for expansion in the last year. I would like to encourage anyone located on the east coast or visiting to come visit Multiline. We are one hour from two major airports and 25 minutes from Long Island McArthur airport.

Sincerely,

Michael Angelo
President
