President's Message

ne of the major concerns of our customers, when purchasing equipment is minimizing machine down time. We have recently instituted a corrective action program, we refer to as the "Failure Information Management System." This system was implemented by our reliability manager, Joe Zipper. This system incorporates a data base, which on a continual basis tracks failures by machine, system, component or customer. Forms are used for logging every phone call, fax or service report into the database allowing us to monitor trends, analyze the problems and focus our engineering and service efforts. Problems are categorized by impact on machine performance and incorporated into a corrective action program classifying them as a design, material or process problem. At that point engineering can elect to change a part or redesign as required.

The "Failure Information Management System" will also help us to create better recommended spare parts lists, improve our preventive maintenance programs, and reduce service demands, all with the final benefit of minimizing machine downtime.

You will notice that on all new machines a log book is attached with a chain to the side of the machine. We are hoping our customers take advantage of this and fill in the log book whenever a problem arises or service is done on the machine. This will become part of the information Joe Zipper uses to build his data base. This is also very helpful for our service department who will refer to the book when they are on their service calls. This will help to pin-point problems which may need special attention or accelerated maintenance.

This issue of "Newsline" introduces our new website (not included in this on-line issue for obvious reasons). Hopefully everyone will find it informative and easy to use. You will be able to find our latest newsletter as well as past issues on our web site along with a plethora of valuable information.

Sincerely,

Michael Angelo
President
